Family Counselling
Family counselling, also known as family and systemic psychotherapy, is a branch of psychotherapy with the aim to address stressful situations that may strain family relationships (or people in a close relationship). These stressful situations may include (1) mental health concerns of individual family member(s) that impact the family as a whole; (2) familial issues such as marriage problems, death of a loved one, or financial hardship; (3) everyday familial concerns like interpersonal conflict, behavioural problems of children and adolescent, or communication problems; and (4) many others.
Family counselling aims to promote understanding and collaboration within a family in order to solve problems of one, multiple, or all family members. Typical family counselling approaches are formulated to help family members to improve communication, to solve problem, to develop coping skills and to enhance sense of connection to one another.
