Our Philosophy & Social Responsibility
In Meta-Oasis, our LifeDesign (lifespan developmental) framework is built on a number of instrumental theories in developmental, cognitive and educational psychology. Furthermore, LifeDesign is our way of embracing the concept of positive psychology. We are standing on the shoulders of giants such as Lev Vygotsky and Sigmund Freud from the turn of the 20th century, and Robert Sternberg and Howard Gardner from the last few decades.
We have grown highly accustomed to our society being one of relentless competition at every phase of our lifespan. This competition starts as early as nurturing childhood learning interests to harvesting lifelong wisdom at our old age. Each competitive element has its own scale of evaluation, and each glowing evaluation adds to our perception of the standard student, worker and citizen. At Meta-Oasis, we believe everyone is unique and should not limit individual’s aspiration to be the standard student, worker and citizen. To live up to life aspirations, one needs to “know yourself”.
We should not deny the instrumentality of formal education system in the formation of our perception towards oneself. Yet behind the formal education system lies the integral individual needs and social responsibilities to address other aspects of the intellectual development for each of us. Be it in developing an interest in artistic and creative fields, in pitching social entrepreneurial projects, in training the mind to maximize its thinking potentials, Meta-Oasis is a non-formal education facility designed to be a space in which people of all ages can develop these skill sets and harness the potential within.

"If
I have seen further,
it is by standing
on
the shoulder of giants."
- Isaac Newton
